Here is a cute top that is dressy and looks comfortable too. The waist is fitted, so that might be an issue for some, but I think overall it is modest.

When the sleeves are big like this, I like to wear a tank or cami underneath of the same color so nothing shows when I raise my arms.

The necklace is cute and eye catching, but I try to avoid necklaces that are too long because they draw eyes away from my face.

I really like the sleeves because they are pretty long, yet they are loose enough that it wouldn’t be too warm on a hot day.

This top can be dressed up or down. With a pair of jeans or a casual skirt, it would be comfortable for every day. With black pants or skirt like in the picture, it’s dressy enough for a more formal occasion.

The first thing that I notice here is that this young lady is incredibly thin.  But putting that aside for the moment, the look of her top is quite cute.  I like the long shirt hanging out and the sweater over top—it’s a nice look for a girl.

My biggest problem is with her pants.  While they cover her legs, they seem to stick to her legs—or maybe not?  It’s hard to tell because of how thin she is.

Thinness really isn’t an issue as long as you’re healthy and have healthy habits.  Unfortunately our culture glorifies people with poor eating habits and perpetuates a standard that not everyone can beat.

Again, focus on the inside and let it shine through.

There are a lot of great choices of colors and different uplifting messages about your spouse to choose from. I chose the pink short-sleeve junior-fitted shirt that says, “My husband rocks!” I like the script font and love the message!

I really appreciate the length on the shirt – it comes way below the waist far down on the hips so there is no issue for a girl if she were to bend over. And the neckline is perfect for me – a crewneck – so I don’t have any issues with modesty at all with the cut. I like the weight of the material that Union28 uses. It’s not too thin or see-through at all.

The junior-fit is a slimmer fit than the ladies’ cut. I usually wear an XS (0-2) or even a girls’ size 14-16 on top. I was thankful that the site suggested ordering at least a size larger than normal because these shirts do run small. I ordered the 4-6 and was glad that I did. The fit is snug. I think with the junior-fit some people may even want to order 2 sizes larger than normal potentially. So if you would rather not have something so form-fitting, the ladies’ cut may be a better choice for you.

I am happy with the value Union28 gets for the money. The shirt I have is well-made and reasonably priced. I have to give it a big THUMBS UP!

One modern style that is great for modesty is pictured at right.  The sweater over the shirt that is left not tucked in is a great look for two reasons:

• The sweater is nice and bulky with a dress shirt underneath and it also allows for good contrast.
• The shirt tails hanging out cover the bottom and the front, and also provide contrast.

We’re not able to see the skirt length, but assuming that it’s a decent length, this outfit works for a casual setting, a date, or even in most business-casual workplaces.

The only thing I would caution here is the material of the skirt.  It looks from this picture like it might be tight.  Straight skirts can be tight, and so you may want to consider something with a bit more mobility or something that doesn’t hug your form too much.

This tie-back cardigan looks comfortable, and is a nice color (though it comes in four different colors. 

Some things I noticed:

• Button downs can be tricky, but the spacing here is small—meaning less gaping.
• Button down also allows for being more immodest in private—a plus for us husbands out here.
• The shirt seems to get longer in the back.
• That means that you might sit on it when you sit down.
• You shouldn’t have anything exposed when you bend over.

All in all, a great cardigan.  What did you notice?

Here’s an shirt with an interesting pattern from Cath Kidston—a native company of Great Britain with an online store in the United States.

For modesty purposes, the shirt seems pretty modest—a high neckline and long sleeves makes it cover most of the skin.

The only thing I can’t tell from this image is how long the shirt is.  My guess is that it’s possible that it could be a little short, or sit on the belt line.

Anyone have a shirt like this and care to comment?

This shirt shows the perfect way to use layers. 

• Underneath, she has a white shirt that’s perfectly modest in its length.
• Over top, a very pretty pattern that she has left unbutton for air flow, or just to augment the under layer.

On its own, the external shirt is modest…

• It has a great length, sitting below the waistline. 
• It is button-down, which means that you will have to watch if it gapes, but with the under-layer that’s not an issue.
• Everything’s covered.

So, this is a great accent shirt, or shirt for everyday—your choice!

No, I’ve never worn a Pintuck Tunic—sorry!

That being said, there are a lot of nice things to say about this one.

• I like the button-down look, for the aforementioned reason of the “dress for your husband” idea.
• The tie at the waist is a feminine look—as I’m sure you’ll rarely see a man wearing something that ties outside of a trench coat.
• The “Pintuck” part is a feminine feature that gives definition.
• That it’s a tunic means that it’s meant to be worn on the outside of the pants/skirt.  That means it’s extra long for good coverage and that it would be cool in the summer time.

I can remember well my first shirt with a rolled cuff.  It was for my work at Ponderosa, and the ability to button up the sleeve came in very handy.

First, it made it convenient when I was doing my job as a dishwasher—the sleeves never came down and got wet.

Second, it looked stylish, in its own quirky way.  It made it so that you knew that the cuff was to be rolled up—like you were rolling it up to get things done.

This roll cuff shirt from Shade Clothing is definitely more feminine than that, but it has some nice features.  The button shirt allows for married women to set just how much is seen—part of the “it’s okay to be revealing in front of your husband” set.  The length looks decent, though I could even suggest that it could be a little longer.

This is a lovely blouse with 3/4 sleeves and a high neckline. It does have some detailing around the neckline that could be a concern, but over all I would say it is definitely a modest cut.

However, it is white, and there are inherent problems with white clothing. They tend to be very see-through, and become pretty much transparent when they get wet. (also, I tend to stain all my white clothes the first time I wear them. -.- Hopefully you are more graceful than I am.) So you would have to make sure you are wearing something underneath, and be very careful not to get dunked in water, sprayed with a hose, etc.

What I always like to do with sheer tops is to wear them with a shirt of a contrasting colour underneath. Black, bright blue, red, etc. Just make sure that the shirt underneath has enough coverage as well. :)

Quick Fact: Chambray shirts are actually a casual styling of button down work shirts that were popular in the 1980′s and 90′s.

Although denim on denim is back in style (it was an 80′s trend) this Fall, this denim shirt would go great with a khaki skirt and some cute flats!  Since this is a button-down, I would pair it with a cami underneath just in case one of those buttons come undone!

I own several items from St. John’s Bay and found them to be great quality.  I also know that they feature a relaxed fit.

Camp shirts are made to fall at your hip, which might be a problem for some women.  Otherwise, the sleeve length and the neckline looks
just fine!

The shaping of this shirt is quite modest.  The only worry I have is the length.  I am a tall girl, so I probably need to wear a cami underneath.

The shirt comes in four colors.  I would wear this cute shirt with a denim or brown skirt, depending on the color of the shirt.

One of the neat things about Modest Mom is that they also recycle clothing, selling gently used clothing.

In this case, this pink long sleeved shirt is soft, snuggly, and though the fabric may be a bit tight, it’s perfectly modest.

The long sleeve undershirts are for those great winter days where it helps ward off the cold!  They also provide great coverage.

The Resort Shirt from SplashGear is much like the Island shirt, but it is a little longer and has an elastic band to keep it in place in the water:

It’s not too tight, but she won’t have problems bending over, and the necklace doesn’t draw attention to her chest. The only issue I have is with the big letters on the front of the shirt. This sort of thing can draw unwanted attention. Overall, mostly modest.

MInTheGap: Definitely a good use of layers. Without the white layer, this shirt would be way too short. The fact that it’s white and there are white letters helps. Since there’s a distribution of the letters across the shirt, I’m not drawn to any particular place. Nice work.

justagirl4god: I like this outfit, but I think that the shirt comes down a little low. The jeans don’t appear to be too tight, and neither does her shirt. The scarf adds a nice touch, and if is was worn a little higher it might solve the issue of the exposed chest. Overall, I’d say borderline.

MInTheGap: For me, the only problem that I see here is the shirt– the top goes pretty low, and though part of it’s covered by her hair in this pose, I can see a lot of skin. Nothing that adding another layer couldn’t cure, however.
