I ask my girlfriend what she is wearing and she has an elegant nice fitting dress that she wore to her daughter’s wedding this past summer. I don’t want to spend a lot of money. My dear husband already agreed to the conference price and the split fee for the hotel room.

The Thrift Store Find

I decide to check out one of my favorite places to shop: The Goodwill! All of these stores are different depending on the location. Some carry more of one item then others.

I look around and can’t find evening dresses, so I ask the clerk at the checkout. “Anything we have will be mixed in with the dresses over on that wall,” she informs me. Not expecting to find much, I head to the rack. If you have been to Goodwill you know the majority of the dresses will be from 10-20 years ago, and the most common style is the shapeless loose tent dress in a wide variety of colors and materials – not exactly a dress for a gala event.

Is This Modest just passed 3,000 comments, and we had a stealth giveaway.  I saw at the beginning of August that we were close to 3,000 and figured that I’d giveaway the next skirt to the person that left the 3,000th comment.  Other than Sigrid at New Creation Apparel and myself, no one knew.

And today we got that comment!  In the middle of a spirited conversation on Modesty and why it matters, alamodest left this comment– #3000.  And that means she won!

New Creation’s largest selection is in their skirts. However, they also offer silk slips, nightgowns, tailored and feminine jackets, and silk-filled comforters.

As I mentioned, I was impressed with their maternity skirts and their pricing, but the real reason that I strongly encourage ITM readers to support this company, is the reasons they first began their company:

“We saw mothers and daughters returning from a day of endless shopping for modest clothing without success.  Feeling discouraged, upset, and crying!
We felt compassion because some of them were our friends. A more realistic reason was to provide work and a new start for a close friend in China who had been severely persecuted because of a second child. Among many difficult trials, our friend lost his tailor shop and workers, was fined 100000 Yuan and ended up in jail for fathering a second child.”

This is a company that is not just interested in making money.  Even behind the scenes, they work to be a blessing to those they hire. They use their company as means of encouraging and supporting families who may not be able to make a living otherwise.  New Creation Apparel is a company that I am thrilled to find, and I can promise that they will be my first stop whenever I’m looking for skirts or tailored jackets.

Next week I hope to review one of theirs skirts that I having coming. In the mean time, I encourage you to check out their customer reviews and say that I’ve read through them and they are all extremely positive.

In closing, we are also excited to say that NCA has offered to participate in a giveaway with us. So at some point in the future, our readers will have a chance to win something from them!
