This is a cute casual outfit, great for every day, but the heels help dress it up a little and keep it from looking too casual.

The purple top is high cut and not too tight, which is a good thing.  It might be better if she didn’t tuck the it in the front only, as it draws attention to the legs more.

Her jeans look pretty tight, and since they are skinny jeans, they are form fitting. These types of jeans aren’t always modest on all body types, so be aware of that. If she wore a longer top, this outfit would be more modest, but it would still be stylish and comfortable.

We’ve been reviewing a lot of casual looks recently, and this is only a shade different.

Jeans are appropriate, in my book, in certain situations—like work on a farm.  I could mention that her jeans have holes in them, but I’m not sure that it’s intentional, and I have holes in a couple of pairs of mine that I still wear.

The top shows a little more skin than I would suggest, showing off the top of the shoulder that gives her a feminine look.  The shirt, however, it great in that it covers below the midsection.

What do you think of a belt over the shirt?  In this case I think it works.

Another casual look that is fine depending on what you’re doing.  This woman’s jeans cover heels, which are not too high.  She’s wearing a tasteful shirt—though I do wonder if it’s a bit clingy on top as I can make out some pattern underneath.

The jeans look fine, the bag looks like it could get heavy, but then women typically have a lot in their purses, don’t they?

Over all, a clean simple look that’s not frumpy but practical.

Here’s another outfit that looks comfortable, and is fine as far as modesty is concerned in most situations. 

The top is nice and feminine with a translucent look of lace on the arms, plenty of fabric and it has good coverage.  The necklace is pretty, and I assume that it goes well with her eyes.

The belt and the boots match—something I didn’t know I was supposed to do and the jeans tucked in works for this look.

The jeans are not too tight (you can see some of the material has room to move) and there’s no fading or holes in it.

I have no problems with this look, and think that it’s comfortable and appropriate.  Though I know that some believe you must always wear a skirt if you’re a woman, I have no problem identifying this person as a member of the fairer sex and I don’t have a problem with modesty here.

This is a very common look, and from a modesty standpoint it has a lot of things going for it.

This outfit says comfortable.  It’s something that you see fits the person and it looks relaxed.  It fits in place with the environment around it.

The shirt she is wearing is long, and the shirt or jacket over top does a good job of looking neat as well as being modest.

The jeans aren’t terribly tight, but it’s hard to get jeans that fit that don’t appear to show features on guys or girls without swimming in them.  It’s perfectly acceptable to be in jeans on the farm or in the country—even Bob Jones University allowed female students to wear jeans when hiking or riding horseback on an outing!

I like this look, and I think that it works!

I am excited to write this article as what I am about to conclude as one of my fall basics for any wardrobe is definitely my favourite item of clothing all year round. Can you guess what it is?…a great pair of jeans! Do understand that this entire series is a group of opinion articles and if you are a woman who feels pants are off limits due to her own modesty beliefs then this is obviously not a fall must have. :)

But for those of us who do not feel convicted regarding wearing trousers, what could be better for romping around the leaves in then comfortable denim? I own many different styles of jeans but thankfully that is just preference, and I will not push one style over another. The good news is that this fall season wide legged and flared jeans are coming back into style. This will make it easier for any of the women out there who did not feel comfortable in the skinny style that has made itself a permanent resident in our local stores lately. That ‘70s vibe is slowly filtering back into the fashion world meaning it should be on our shop shelves again shortly!

For those jeans that have a low-waisted fit check out these tips for keeping your midriff cozy from the chill!

I feel the only concern with jeans, or pants of any kind for that matter, is the fit on your backside. This is another fine line that can be sometimes crossed unintentionally. Take for example church yesterday. I was late getting up and quickly grabbed my wide legged jeans and a button down dress shirt, which I tucked in. I had not worn these jeans in a few months as the cooler weather has only recently made an appearance. My husband and I had a coffee together before jumping in the car and heading to our church service. As we walked in and I stood for the first worship song I was suddenly aware of the people behind me and my bum. My jeans felt a bit too snug and of course we were sitting in the second row from the front. I put my hands around my back to try and cover what I could as I was keenly uncomfortable.

This is what happens when I do not do an overall check before leaving the house. I was not consciously thinking modesty and assumed that the jeans would be fine as they were wide legged and everything was covered. So, even though jeans are not skin showers they can still be immodest when not fitted properly. So take your time when sorting through the jean racks and make sure you try them on before purchasing to save money and the time of returning too tight jeans!

In conclusion, no matter what style of jeans you find yourself leaning towards, whether it be a hippie flare, punk rock skinny, cowboy boot-cut or ’70’s wide legged, throw them on with a poncho or fitted leather jacket and head into the windy weather for some fall apple picking fun!…Just watch the fit on your bum so you keep the other apple pickers eyes on the apples and not your apple-bottoms!

Jeans.  They’re everywhere.  Most people own three or four (or more) pairs and they come in a variety in styles, sizes, colors, and ripped and non-ripped. 

If anyone wants theirs ripped, you don’t have to pay the high price tag, my jean ripping service is both modest and reasonably inexpensive!

The problem with jeans on women is two-fold.

First: Mario

Yes, that feature that many attribute with plumbers is a main problem with most jeans.  In fact, a whole underwear line has become prominent based on what will show in these low cut jeans, and songs have been made about tattoos that become visible when backsides become visible.

Now, jeans that would cover correctly probably wouldn’t appeal to most women—as they would tend to look old fashioned and less modern.  The other problem is that the garment that would help with this situation—some kind of adult onesie I mean body suit might not be an attractive solution either.

Yet the problem still remains.

Second: In Front

Girls and boys have different physical anatomies, and jeans that are tight definitely bring this out, and the male mind notices.  That’s as far as I’m going there.

What’s the Solution?

If you’re going to get jeans, make sure they are loose fitting and that they cover.  Katt Anderson in her article on From the Waist Down puts it this way:

If your Jeans are so low cut that when you bend over, or sit down, your underwear shows, it is not modest. Any clothing that is so tight that every curve in your body shows, or you can’t walk comfortably in it, is not modest.

The lack of clothing is very enticing to men. In 2 Samuel 11:2-5, we read about David viewing Bathsheba as she bathed. David shouldn’t have looked, you might say. However, Bathsheba should not have been exposing herself. The less clothes you wear, the more you make men look at you.

So take care ladies—like the maintenance issues, check to see in those store mirrors how the jeans fit.  Pay attention to what happens when you bend over, and make sure that you don’t have to pour yourself into them.  The men around you will be thankful.

Modesty! Its rather important to us! But, have you ever sat back and examined your standards of modesty? How your standard was formed? Considered other views of modesty? The annual Modesty Challenge gives each of us a chance to re-think modesty and discuss our finding!

This Years Modesty Challenge Begins on April 19th 2010 & Ends April 23rd 2010. The theme this year is “A week in Modest Feminine Attire”.  And just to make it interesting, we’ll pick one participant from those who take the challenge to get a free skirt from New Creation Apparel!

The Rules

For this years challenge, lets put the debate of skirts or jeans behind us. Skirts/Dresses of appropriate length are certainly modest. They are certainly feminine. And They are most defiantly no longer the “norm” for girls and women.

During the challenge, you should wear only skirts, dresses, culottes, or split-skirts. Try to keep outfits as feminine and modest as possible. Continue with your normal routine. Especially participate in activities you “thought you couldn’t do in a skirt” such as gardening, cleaning, housework, childcare, outdoor activities etc.

Take lots of pictures of yourself doing your normal routines in feminine modest clothing. (If you are uncomfortable taking your picture, take pictures of your outfit.) Post these pictures along with any thought or comments on the challenge to your personal blog. Your post should include a link to the challenge. Add your post to the list of links (Comments) so we can all see how your challenge is going!

Already a “skirt gal”? Great! You are still welcome to participate in the challenge. You may wish to make the challenge a bit more challenging for yourself by adding a “bit more feminine challenge”. Possibly challenge yourself to also wear feminine hair styles! (Think Buns & Braids!) Or to Speak or write more feminine.

justagirl4god: This is pretty cute. I think that perhaps the shirt is a bit low at the top, though, and the jeans a little tight around her thighs. It appears that she might have another layer underneath that top, and if this had a higher neckline it could solve that issue. Overall, mostly modest.

MInTheGap: This shirt shows some shoulders, which helps to give the outfit a feminine feel. I think the neckline could be a little higher, but it’s too much of a problem. Terrific photograph.

justagirl4god: This is a pretty cute outfit. I like the lacy part of the shirt which raises the neckline, though I think it could be a little higher. The shirt is not too tight, though, and the jeans don’t seem to be either. The bow/ribbon on the front of the shirt draws attention to this area, though, and I would prefer to avoid this type of thing. Overall, mostly modest.

MInTheGap: I like the bright colors, personally. The jeans are fine, and the heels are okay. The pink color that comes down in front is a little distracting in that it has contrast right across the bust line. As for skin showing, it’s not bad, and it’s a pretty outfit.

justagirl4god: I like this outfit, but I think that the shirt comes down a little low. The jeans don’t appear to be too tight, and neither does her shirt. The scarf adds a nice touch, and if is was worn a little higher it might solve the issue of the exposed chest. Overall, I’d say borderline.

MInTheGap: For me, the only problem that I see here is the shirt– the top goes pretty low, and though part of it’s covered by her hair in this pose, I can see a lot of skin. Nothing that adding another layer couldn’t cure, however.

justagirl4god: You know what I love about cowgirls? They are almost always modest. Their shirts are usually buttoned nice and high, and are not skin tight. The jeans are never tight either; just the right size so that they are comfortable for working in and look decent. Some may say that their large belt buckles draw attention, but I don’t think so. I like the fact that she is smiling and enjoying life. Overall – modest!

MInTheGap: Big belt buckles always draw attention to the midsection– and they’re always on cowboys or girls. However, the rest of this outfit seems fine, and the hat draws my attention to her face. Good outfit.

Foy: I have to agree with MInTheGap regarding the belt buckle, but besides that, very modest!

MInTheGap: As far as I can see, everything’s covered. The mouth across the chest does draw a bit of attention, as does the fact that it’s a bit tight, but that’s the only things I can see.

Is This Modest?

MInTheGap: There are three sets of straps here and a lot going on. I think that the color scheme accentuates the bust and draws attention to it. The pose and facial expression are saying volumes as well. Don’t really have a problem with the jeans.

Foy: The layering in the top is very bad – the buttons on the undershirt attract a lot of attention, as do the contrasting colors in that region. Both layers are a bit tight as well.

I do have a bit of a problem with the pants – the zipper is not flush; it sticks out. It’s subtle, but it does draw attention.

MInTheGap: Everything’s covered. Nice pattern, not too tight. But this outfit isn’t exactly feminine with some caveats– the sleeve cuffs are different from a man’s and two breast pockets are not really in style for men. However, I don’t have a particular problem here.

Foy: Take the pockets out – they’re different from the rest of the pattern, which attracts some attention. But that’s minor  - this outfit is for me a four.

Hannah: I really have a problem with the way the belt draws the gaze to the bust. I think the way the shirt is fairly tight across the chest and then is pulled in by the brightly colored belt is not an appropriate style.

MInTheGap: As a whole, this outfit is interesting.  I’m not sure what I think about a tunic in the first place—it looks a bit like a dress over pants.  The jeans seem fine with plenty of room.  The tunic itself is a bit odd with the belt—though also a bit patriotic.  The other views look fine, it’s the way that the belt sits so high on the front view (or is it the way she’s standing with her hips?) that makes this look questionable.

Foy: I agree with both of you. The belt/band sits way too high, and does seem to outline the bust.

Is This Modest?

Hannah: First of all, I don’t like most reclining positions used for photographs, including this one. Here the shirt is too tight, and though it is layered the layering has done nothing to make the low neck modest. It’s a little hard to tell about the jeans, but my impression is that they are overly snug as well. Also, the hand on the hip and the expression on the face seem to convey a message of, “I have an attitude”.

MInTheGap: The whole photo– the angle, etc. is to show off her body which makes the image itself immodest, the outfit, though it does a decent job of coverage, is tight to show off her waistline.

Foy: I herebye second everything the people above me have said.  A three for me.

justagirl4god: This outfit looks like something I might wear… the jeans don’t appear to be ‘glued on’, as many are these days. The jacket adds some colour to the outfit and covers up her shoulders. However, I have a few problems with the shirt and necklace. The white shirt seems to be a bit low, and is ‘bubbling’ on her, which suggests that it is fairly tight. The necklace is large and it sits right on her chest – drawing attention to this area. Overall, I would say this is a borderline outfit.

MInTheGap: If it weren’t for the white layer I’d say this was a very acceptable outfit. The necklace hides how low this shirt is, but I don’t tend to have trouble with necklaces. The color is good for her.
