It’s that time again!  Time for another giveaway, and this one is going to be an easy and I hope fun one.

Some of you may know that while I was in high school I wrote a fiction story.  In fact, I’ve published a lot of it over at MInTheGap Fiction, though I’m not sure how good it is…  In any event, I have some characters over there that have shown up in different blogs from time to time, and I figured now is the time that they show up at Is This Modest.

For this month’s giveaway, I want to create a new story based on these characters.  I’ll detail more in a moment, but here’s where it gets (I hope!) fun.  Here are the rules:

• Comment must be 3 to 6 sentences… OR  Be a line someone spoke.
• You may comment as many times as you like, but you must wait for someone else to comment before adding on.
• Do not use the reply feature, because it will mess up the story.  Any replies will not be counted.
• You get one entry per comment that meets the rules.

So, we’re writing a story.  I’ll get it started and tell you about the characters, and from there, where it goes is up to you and how creative you get.  Write a paragraph to move the story along.  Write some dialog for one of the characters.  It’s up to you!  I’ll write a wrap up when it’s done.

And so, without further Ado, Fiction Meets Modest:

”Honey,” Tracy said, “I want to go to the store and pick up a new skirt.”

“That’s fine, but you know what happened the last time,” Adam replied.  Being a detective, he was used to interrogating a suspect, and so it was hard to turn that off.  “You went to the mall with Kristin and neither of you could find a thing that was modest to wear.”

“I know, but Laura showed me this website, IsThisModest.com, and it had a list of all sorts of places that I could find modest skirts, and I think that I could find some of these things locally—if they have them in stock,”  she replied.  Laura stayed at home with the kids and had a very stylish fashion sense, so Tracy knew that she could trust her.

“I thought Laura and Noah were going out tonight?”

“That was the original plan, but circumstances have changed.”

Today’s challenge isn’t necessarily for today.  Sometime this month you must wear a skirt (it can be different skirts) seven days in a row.

To make sure you complete this, and to win 100 points in our contest, you must do the following:

1. Go to our forums and login (registration is free if you don’t have a login!)
2. Find the February 2011 Giveaway Forum.
3. Add a new topic—give it your name and then this contest section.
4. Each day for the seven consecutive days, post what you wore, and ideally a picture (which you’ll have to host somewhere—but it’s 100 points, remember!).

This can be done any time this month (and some of the Northern Gals are saying “You’ve got to be kidding, we have snow!”), so you can wait toward the end of the month, but it must be most of the day.

If you choose not to post a photo, at least describe what you wore and how that day went.  This is supposed to be encouraging as well as a great way to win a lot of points!

There are two big things going on this week, in case you haven’t heard.

First, last week we went where we’d never gone before, Announcing the First Annual Is This Modest Awards!

So far, we’ve received a few nominations, and next week we will start doing an in depth profile on those that were nominated.

Nominations are still open, so feel free to nominate your favorite blog, retailer, or blog post, but know that November 30th nominations will close and the competition will begin!

Secondly, We announced the November 2010 NCA Skirt Giveaway!  That is going on this week, and we currently have 19 subscribers.

However, there are 8 unconfirmed subscribers that won’t get a chance to win if they don’t confirm their e-mail addresses.

I will be sending out an e-mail specifically to them.  Make sure that you check your spam folder just in case, because only confirmed e-mail addresses have a chance to win.

Christa Taylor is closing her store on October 30th! Although I am sad for her, I am also happy for the excitement around her liquidation sale and especially for her venture into photography which I am currently helping out with (more details on that later). It was not too long ago when I first met Christa at a fashion show around my area, and I guess we haven’t stopped connecting ever since. The girl has skills. You should definitely check out what she’s got in the store before everything gets sold out!

I just received the Lucy Dress in black, and I loved it. It was classy, feminine, vintage-inspired, and modest—that pretty much sums up her line.
