This tie-back cardigan looks comfortable, and is a nice color (though it comes in four different colors. 

Some things I noticed:

• Button downs can be tricky, but the spacing here is small—meaning less gaping.
• Button down also allows for being more immodest in private—a plus for us husbands out here.
• The shirt seems to get longer in the back.
• That means that you might sit on it when you sit down.
• You shouldn’t have anything exposed when you bend over.

All in all, a great cardigan.  What did you notice?

From the picture, though there’s not a model it looks like it’s past the knee, maybe T-length.  The top buttons up—which could pose some maintenance issues, but it looks fine and modest.

This dress has a beautiful pattern.  The Blue is a nice soft shade, the pattern is great, and I like it all around.

As far as modesty goes, the length seems fine (though it’s not on a model so it’s harder to tell).  The neckline is nice and high, so no troubles there.

Some will find issue with the shoulders being uncovered—I’m not one of them, but it’s easy to throw a bolero or sweater on and it’ll work just fine.

The waistline is defined by the belt, which works all right here.

What do you think of this modest formal?  The site claims that it could work equally well as a formal or a bridesmaid dress.

Personally,  I don’t know what women do with their used bridesmaid dresses…  Most of them don’t look as nice as this dress.

From the picture, there’s nothing to note about the neckline or shoulders—both are covered.

The dress falls a bit below the knee, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it showed the knee when seated.

The biggest thing to consider here is the gathering and material.  Reflective material tends to show form more than some other kinds.

Specifically, where this dress gathers into a belt does draw attention to the bust.

This shirt just looks like it would be ultra comfortable.  It’s a little deceiving in terms of size—listed as a large, but if you don’t like things really tight it’ll fit more like a medium.

This is a great shirt for layering—too bad the previous two reviews wouldn’t do well with the blue under-layer—or would they?

I need the ladies to help me out—would blue look good with the brown or black?

A few months ago we asked you, the readers, to let us know what your favorite color to wear was. The results were overwhelming.

1. Blue (48%, 20 Votes)
2. Pink (19%, 8 Votes)

There were more votes cast for blue than the next four colors combined. To me this leads to a few interesting observations:

Blue is Not Only for Boys

Did you know that it wasn’t until the mid 1900′s that pink was considered the color for infant baby girls? Pink was considered to be a weaker red, which is the color of power. Blue was considered to be a cool, background color.

It wasn’t until the mid 1900′s that the pink in convertibles and lipstick got the country to switch identifying colors with infants.

And our poll tends to reinforce that, showing that a majority of you ladies like the color blue!

It Is One Cool Color

When I was designing interfaces for different computer applications, blue was a very popular color to use in the background. It isn’t as stark as black, but it does fade into the background and let the other colors have the focus.

Blue rarely takes the front stage, and it compliments well.

It Highlights the Eyes

The last thing that comes to mind is how blue highlights those that have blue eyes. To me, nothing makes eyes pop like having a blue shirt or blouse that compliments the eyes.

And I should know, having a beautiful, blue-eyed wife. :)

So, ladies, you have good taste with the color blue!

Is This Modest?

MInTheGap: This dress is interesting. It shows off a lot of shoulder area– and as we’ve said before that means that thre can be side views expose areas she wouldn’t want exposed. However, the rest of the dress looks ok. There is some deal of attention drawn to the ridges in the center, but that doesn’t draw attention to her “feminine features”– for me, anyway.

MInTheGap: Yes, it has decent width straps, the front comes up nice and high– this is one of the better formals I’ve seen– and on someone that’s in a pageant no less! Good job!

Foy: A lot of time, sashes can be immodest because they pronounce cleavage. But, this girl isn’t immodest because she doesn’t show any cleavage. Modest!

MInTheGap: The layers help the top, though only slightly. I don’t have a problem with it– the top is plenty long enough to provide coverage and the jeans are fine.

Erin: I think even with the layers, the neckline is still too low; and the shirt itself is snug.

Is This Modest?

MInTheGap: Though this is one of those cases where the dress is not to the floor, it is a decent length and I can’t see the knee.  That means, to me, that it’s not going to be as high maintenance.  The front is a square cut—though not my favorite, it is high and covers. 

Great dress.

Foy: This is being really picky, I know, but I’d like to see the shoulders just a half inch higher. I also don’t care for the “waist band” effect, as it accentuates her curves. Overall – a 4/5 on the modest scale.

Is This Modest?

MInTheGap: I’m not sure how he intends to keep a white suit and white shoes clean, but white on a guy definitely makes him stand out. That’s part of the reason that men usually go black– because they want the focus to be on the woman, not on them. He’s definitely the first thing you see in this photo.

As for her, it’s a strapless dress, though nothing is exposed. The color is fabulous and looks good on her, but as a general rule strapless is iffy at best.

Erin: The white suit looks like a disaster waiting to happen! (At least in my experience, white shirts are like magnets to the nearest stain-producing food/drink)…But, it’s not immodest! He looks nice.  The lady’s dress is strapless, which I don’t think is ever modest.

Erin: Umm, too short! And the top needs to be buttoned back up a few buttons. If it had a (much) longer skirt and a few buttons were done up, it would be nice; but as is, no way.

MInTheGap: The funny thing is, Erin, she knows it’s too short, that’s why she’s got her legs crossed.  I can imagine she spends way too much time of the day pulling it down so her knickers don’t show.  I’m with you on the top too– it seems like though it’s drawn together here it’s much more open than it lets on.  The only redeeming feature is that the shirt is long enough so as not to expose her midsection.
