Following up on Monday's post "But Women Don't Wear Hats Anymore", what do you think about head coverings today?  Should women in churches wear them?

One church I went to mandated that women wear them if they went on the platform, while most did not think it was for today.

In my opinion, it depends on the church.  We should work to keep our brothers and sisters from struggling.  If they're going to struggle at the thought of our heads being uncovered, then cover them.

I'm not sure that it's just an issue of causing brother's to stumble.  I Corinthians 11 is pretty clear (from what I can see) that Paul was instructing the readers of the letter to have women cover their heads.  Can you see where that's anything but the plain reading of the passage?

Isn't there also a scripture that says women have long hair in order to cover their heads?

Geez, I'm a heathen…  I don't cover and I cut my hair… lol.

Somebody stated in a comment:

“.. begins to look into that headcovering issue, and when a woman begins to look into that headcovering issue, she becomes more modest in apparel….”

Sorry I can't agree with that,  I think about  modesty (&wear modest clothes) for alot of years (3 at least) and never ever thought about head covering, it never once  accured to me.

I always have to think, when I read post like this, about the “great commission” an I know if I would do the headcovering part, I think nobody around me would be saved,

because they need “normal” people down to earth, who can “relate”.

It's not sin like Paul wrote in other letters about drunkeness, adultrey, gossiping,…

I say this real carefully, because I know this is an sensitive subject, but I put this in the “category of how to treat slaves, idole food, what to eat when & all the other subject, we have no relation in our time, hopefully i will get someday a revelation, why God thought this is important.

We should redeem time with “gentiles” Col 4.

Ves, I think authority is a big issue, but we also have to find other ways to show “loalty” and respect, setting an example, what non-believers can follow easily.

I really think we have to be more cultural&time oriented, but not getting ” in the same boat” to get has many people saved as possible.

In church happend to much “religion” and legalism so people are really afraid,

what they getting into.

Are we sometimes too “humble” and getting to proud with modesty?

Sorry, I'm not english, so please excuse my grammatic & and any mistakes. Thanks. If something is totally out of sense or wrong I would appreciate any "correction":-)
