Are maternity photos that show a bear belly, or that have a belly exposed immodest?  Are guys really stumbling over them, or are they not a problem?

I'm not a guy so I can't say if it's a stumbling block or not. However, I don't really appreciate these photos. In a strange way they are kinda beautiful, on the other hand they don't seem modest to me. My point is, I wouldn't show my stomach like that when I'm not pregnant, so why should I when I am pregnant?!

Disclaimer: I've never been pregnant.

Just my two cents…Smile

Pregnancy and birth are one of those strange times for modesty (much like weddings).  For some strange reason the rules seem to change.  It may be that during childbirth modesty is a foreign concept, or it may be that the effort to make the pregnant body something to be proud of has gone crazy.  I'm not sure.

In any case, there are definitely tasteful and tasteless versions of these things.

Its ironic – there are two photos of that in the flickr pool at the top.

I, as a guy, personally do not feel tempted at all with these types of images of a pregnant woman. I think what makes pregnancy "one of those strange times" is the fact that during that time period, especially childbirth, there are many more people viewing regions of the body that are not normally seen. Terms are used during that time period seem to be used more often, and seen as more "appropriate". Even in my conservative Christian highschool, my teacher quite blatantly used the term "dilation" when referring to a relative giving birth.

I'm not saying that it's right, I'm just saying that it happens.

So say we all.

I've been pregnant, and I personally don't care for these types of photos.  I wouldn't show my stomach like that normally, and would have even less of a desire to do when pregnant! Surprised

But yes…pregnancy is a time when things are "different". But I think we still need to do what we can to preserve our modesty even then.
