It's impossible to go to the mall without seeing someone that's blatantly immodest– exaggeratedly so.  And yet a majority of the people walking by are at least borderline if we put them into our QR process.

So, is attempting to encourage ladies to dress modestly a lost cause?  What can we do to reach them?

Hooo boy… I'd say that encouraging ladies to dress modestly is NOT a lost cause, but it may be a difficult one!

One thing that really helped me want to dress modestly was that I read For Young Women Only which had a chapter about what "Guys are visual" REALLY meant, and then not long after, my boyfriend and I had a discussion about it. I didn't want to cause him to stumble, so I have learned to be modest, and now I don't want to be immodest at all, because I'm not comfortable like that anymore.

Oh this raises an excellent topic. Anna, you hit the nail on the head. What we need to to is tell ladies the "why" of being modest. It's not just for us, but it is for the guys as well. When we come to the realization of what a heart issue this is, modesty follows more easily. Christian men often STRUGGLE horribly and they hate it.  Yet don't expect them to talk about the matter because it is too private and embarassing (and rightly so).

So this isn't just about the guys who are out looking for immodestly dressed ladies, but it is also the ones out there trying SO hard to keep away from it because it is not something that can just be "switched off". What a gift we can give our fellow brothers in Christ, by showing them we respect them!

(I sense an article in the making people!)

It is definitely hard, especially since the world wants to sell everything– toothpaste, shampoo, alcohol– with sex.  So it's on billboards, at the mall, etc.  It's in banner ads online, you'd have to totally go "off grid" and even then I'm sure you'd have trouble.

And guys have to learn how to avoid it, how to do their best not to feed it.
