Does What I Wear Effect How I Feel?

We've talked a lot about how what we wear on the outside is a reflection of what we are like on the inside, but how about the reverse?

How does wearing modest clothing, or more formal clothing, effect how you view yourself or how you do your work?

Ooh, a good question. I'll give some examples and explanations.

If I'm wearing a comfortable pair of jeans and a tee with a hoodie, I generally feel relaxed, comfortable, all those good adjectives.

If I wear a skirt, I tend to feel more feminine, and I behave more lady-like (though I try to be lady-like all the time).

If I wear a suit (jacket and pants) I tend to feel more 'powerful'. There's just something empowering and strengthening about it, I don't really know how to explain it.

If I wear a track uniform (which I will admit is immodest but I can't participate in track/cross-country if I don't wear it for the meets), I am usually uncomfortable. I don't like how I look in it, and I tend to compare myself to the other girls on the team, usually with myself losing out. I hate wearing the uniform, but I don't want to quit track because I need the team atmosphere to help motivate me to stay active.

Definitely, wearing modest clothing is SO much better than immodest clothing!

Interesting question. When I wear a collar, I feel very uncomfortable – I'm always trying to get out of it. Same thing with a tie.

I feel much more relaxed with comfortable clothes on – I feel like I am myself. I dunno…

Yuck. Bad response to a question.

So say we all.
