How do we balance not wanting to be judgemental about that which we cannot see with wanting to show what a given outfit says or does to a guy?  Quick Reviews are a great tool but they're also a sharp one because they can easily lose focus.

Think about what you're saying:

T- Is it thoughtful

H- Is it helpful

I- Is it inspirational

N- Is it necessary

K- Is it kind

I think it just comes to a point when we sometimes just have to "call a spade a spade". It's hard with photography, because, as has been mentioned numerous times before, secular photographers are trying, in general, to give their models some form of sex appeal in order to get male viewers. Also, as many of the ladies here have mentioned, they find it hard to know what is going on the the male mind – what they see as modest or not.

In the last several QRs, when M & I reviewed the 'lay down' poses, we just stated what we felt as we saw the picture. It wasn't meant as a personal attack on the person on it, or anything more or less.

Did that make sense? Because it doesn't to me…

So say we all.

It made enough sense to me, Foy.  :)

I'd like to say something though- I struggle with being judgemental. I see some of these girls in my school with their short-shorts, miniskirts, low-cut tops, and/or v-necks, and it makes me angry. I think "you're making my boyfriend struggle because you're showing so much skin! don't you know guys are picturing you in ways you probably don't want them to? you're giving them little pieces of you!"  It also makes me mad because the school isn't enforcing the dress code.

When I catch myself being judgemental and angry, I ask God to help me, and He does, but it's a major struggle for me.

But can't we be Christian about it? Love the person, hate the sin? Love the person, hate the outfit?

So say we all.

That's what I'm trying to do.

It's really more frustration that they don't understand (or maybe they do and just ignore it) why wearing modest clothing is so important, rather than hating the actual person. It's their clothes I hate but I tend to project it onto them too. I am trying to change and God is helping me.

It's hard, for the very reason that we stated earlier– what we wear and who we are are linked.  What we need to do is help those that don't know what they're doing…  Though I don't know that there are really that many?
