The RacerBack Top shows a little more shoulder than the Cap-Sleeved Top but is still modest in that there’s nothing that I see that can be seen when wearing it.

It also looks much like a tank top, and that seems like it would be good for support.

The suit is paired with black shorts, which look fine with the top.

The pattern, on black, is pretty and a decent distraction, so I don’t see a problem with it either.

What’s interesting with Modestkini is that they’re the first modest swimsuit site that I’ve found that actually deals with men’s swimwear as well—having three different options.

That being said, this is the only option without a muscular, topless male as the image…  What do you think about that (you can click through to visit the site if your curious).  Is a topless male a problem for showing long swimshorts?

Because that’s what they have—very long swimshorts that a guy could pair with a shirt for more modesty, but these shorts go down to the knee—and the design on this pair is pretty interesting.

justagirl4god: Happy couple alert! :) I love this wedding dress – it is so beautiful, but the dress does not draw attention to itself, it draws the attention to this bride’s face, not her body. The dress has a great neckline which is modest. The groom here is modest too – classic black suit is great, and again does not draw attention to the clothing, but to the person wearing them. Modest!

MInTheGap: The dress has a nice, high neckline with not a lot showing. The groom’s vest doesn’t cover all of his shirt (a tad sloppy?) but both are modest!

justagirl4god: I really wish that more guys dressed like this. It is simple, and covers everything. Knee-length shorts are great, and can be paired with any t-shirt – I really wonder why some guys think rugby/football shorts are everyday clothing. This outfit is modest.

MInTheGap: They say that only real men can wear pink, but a pink tie? I’m not sure. White is a color that you should avoid. The fact that there’s water in the background means that he could get wet and the suit would be translucent.

In any case, at least the girl with him is wearing a more sensible color. If only it came up a little higher on top.

Foy: I’m not a big fan of the lace or lines on her dress. It draws undue                   attention to her chest and waist.

MInTheGap: Like most males, this guy finds it hard not to be modest. The shirt is fine, the only questions that remain are if the shorts are too short– they may show the knee– and whether the diaper draws attention to his backside.

Foy: Cripes. While this guy may have a nice snappy top, he really does need to work on his shorts. A two in my book.

MInTheGap: It’s a nice jacket and slacks combination, but I’m not sure what that pose says. I mean, the pose and the fact that one part of his spiky hair is sticking straight up distracts me. I’d prefer one of the other shots he has where he’s standing up.

Foy: I’m not a girl, so I have a hard time judging male modesty. But I’d wonder about the open shirt near the top. Other than that and the hair, it seems fine.

justagirl4god: ARG! Oh no! Cover eyes! SHORT SHORTS! These are totally immodest and impractical, if you ask me. They leave nothing to the imagination, and show off every part of ones leg (making shaving all the more necessary). This not only draws attention, but means that you are much more likely to end up with sunburnt legs! The sweatshirt looks pretty modest from this angle, though. It is not too tight and seems a reasonable length. But, due to the shorts, I’d have to say this outfit on the whole is immodest. MInTheGap: Short shorts are great– in the privacy of your home with an audience of your husband. Those these aren’t the shortest of shorts I’ve seen in the mall, these shouldn’t be out in public. The sweatshirt is modest, except for the writing on the lower portion of the back of it. To me, that’ almost equivalent to writing on the backside of shorts and pants today– it’s meant to draw attention. Let’s just say that though I like to color combination, I’d avoid this outfit except for in the privacy of your home.

MInTheGap: Of the four of these, the one on the left is showing the most skin and is wearing the least modest dress. I don’t get the whole “having a hole of skin show”, and though the girl in pink is showing some shoulder, it’s much less than the girl on the left (in my mind).

Of course the guy has it easy, again, but I’m not sure that color is great for him.

Foy: Hole in the dress makes Blue #2 immodest. Blue #1, way too low. Leaning over would be a problem.

MInTheGap: Another shimmery outfit, but she’s got everything on display. The guy behind her is thinking he’s way too cool, but if he’s her escort he didn’t even bring the right color tie! Immodest.

Erin: The dress is sadly lacking in bodice fabric. I think the pose is rather immodest also, since it forces the clingy fabric of the skirt to emphasize the leg shape and rear.

MInTheGap: He has a classic look, and actually looks comfortable in the suit. Her dress is an appropriate length, but I feel the front comes too far down. I’m going borderline.

Erin: The man looks great…it is hard to go wrong with a good-fitting suit. However, the lady’s dress is too low, I don’t think spaghetti straps are appropriate outside the house, and I think the dress is a bit form-fitting around the hips.

MInTheGap: Goofy has a weird hat, but is definitely modest. Mickey– always classy. Minnie does better in pink, but the blue dress is ok on her, and it looks like it’s probably a decent length.

But Donald?! Where are your pants? How could you possibly think it would be modest– or appropriate even– to show up at this kind of event without pants.

Definitely immodest.

Erin: Micky and Goofy look great…very dapper. I think Minnie’s dress is a bit short…even though the top is good. And Donald just needs some serious help (and with a tummy like that, no less).  MIn, I’m concerned that you even thought this picture of him was appropriate to place on a family blog!  Very immodest; but if Donald was out of the picture, it would much better.

MInTheGap: Guys seldom have trouble with modesty, and this shot is no different. While the shirt may go a tad low, it shouldn’t cause a problem. His jeans look tight because his hands are in his pockets.

Kristin: I mostly like this outfit- I personally don’t like v-necks on men, but I don’t see anything wrong with this particular sweater. The only thing I don’t like is the tightness in the jeans; he needs a looser fit so that attention isn’t drawn to the wrong place (having his hands in his pockets doesn’t help the effect). Even though I’m a little creeped out by the look he’s giving and the lurking-in-a-corner-with-graffiti pose, I’m going to give this a Mostly Modest rating because of the pants.

Is This Modest?

MInTheGap: There’s nothing more beautiful than a bride and a groom on their wedding day sharing a passionate kiss! Of course, guys are rarely immodest in most photos (unless blatantly so) and this bride’s dress is modest in that it is not low, it has wide straps, and it’s very feminine.

Kristin: It’s hard to tell from this photo, but the dress is fitted until just under her rear and then poofs out. It draws your attention there pretty quickly!

Other than that I am mostly okay with this dress. The neckline isn’t too low, although I know some will be bothered by the straps. I’ll go with Mostly Modest here.

I sit here in my chair, at my computer, depressed. I’ve sinned against God. Yet again. I seem to be doing this on a regular basis, and I continually wonder what God sees in me. What have I done that makes God want me? Is it because I champion for female modesty, something that goes against every grain of a male’s hardwiring? I don’t know. Honestly. It confuses me, why He would want me. Foy. It’s bizarre as all get out, especially when I consider what I’ve done. It’s nothing “excessively atrocious” – I haven’t killed anyone, or anything like that. And many people my age have done much worse. But a sin is a sin, and I feel that this has hurt God. 

And I wonder why I’m writing about sin on a blog that’s about modesty. But we’re about more than modesty, right? Aren’t we? Like I said last week, isn’t modesty just a reflection of our love for Christ? If that’s true, keeping a modest heart is the same as keeping a pure heart – a heart cleansed from sin.

I feel like there is someone out there, someone who needs to hear this message as much as I do, even as I write it: I don’t know why, but God loves us. For some strange, unknown reason, He loves the filthy, vomit smelling rags that we truly are. Oh how He loves us – to degrees unimaginable. He loves us so much that he sent his kid to die for us. His son! Imagine sending your child to the slaughter just so that you could save a nest of cockroaches from getting exterminated. Now that’s a thought. 

He.

Loves.

Us. 

Think about that. Ponder It. Remember It.

I’ve come to a sudden conclusion tonight: We seem to have the wrong focus on modesty. To use a biological metaphor - we seem be focusing more on the symptoms of modesty, and less on the source. We seem to have forgotten the real reason that we should be modest: that Christ be glorified through us. Everything we talk about here at Is This Modest -whether it be our mouths, our clothes, or our thoughts – It all boils down to how we reflect the image of Christ in our lives. Remember – we are not the light: We are the mirror, reflecting the Fire of God out into the dark; a city on a hill; a light when all others go out.
