Well, I’m not impressed with the turnout, but perhaps that’s my fault.  Between ThouArtMine and emmefel, we had a little bit of a race going, but in the end ThouArtMine had the most points in the two weeks that the giveaway ran, so she’s the winner!

Do you guys think the point system is fun, or just a distraction?

There’s something new happening at Is This Modest!  Some of you may have already noticed it, but we’re running CubePoints—a neat feature that lets your earn points for being here at Is This Modest.

How do you earn points?  First, you have to be logged in to the site.  Once you are logged in, you simply leave comments, write a post, visit every day, participate in the poll, donate them to each other, and get points for people commenting on your posts.

I haven’t got all the balancing out yet, but I think this could be a fun way to run this month’s New Creation Apparel giveaway!

So, the person that’s not me that has the most CubePoints by the end of next Tuesday (11:59 EST) will be the winner!

You should get notified on the site every time you get more points, there’s a widget on the side bar that will tell you how many points you have as well as who has the most points.

Remember to be logged in.  If you need to create a login, go to the forum and you can log in or register there.

Leave a comment here and tell us what rank names you’d like to see incorporated into the game.

There are a lot of great choices of colors and different uplifting messages about your spouse to choose from. I chose the pink short-sleeve junior-fitted shirt that says, “My husband rocks!” I like the script font and love the message!

I really appreciate the length on the shirt – it comes way below the waist far down on the hips so there is no issue for a girl if she were to bend over. And the neckline is perfect for me – a crewneck – so I don’t have any issues with modesty at all with the cut. I like the weight of the material that Union28 uses. It’s not too thin or see-through at all.

The junior-fit is a slimmer fit than the ladies’ cut. I usually wear an XS (0-2) or even a girls’ size 14-16 on top. I was thankful that the site suggested ordering at least a size larger than normal because these shirts do run small. I ordered the 4-6 and was glad that I did. The fit is snug. I think with the junior-fit some people may even want to order 2 sizes larger than normal potentially. So if you would rather not have something so form-fitting, the ladies’ cut may be a better choice for you.

I am happy with the value Union28 gets for the money. The shirt I have is well-made and reasonably priced. I have to give it a big THUMBS UP!

“Where have you been?” Laura exclaimed.  “I thought you’d been kidnapped!”

“What do you mean, I just ran to the back for customer service because I saw a small tear in this skirt and wondered if I could get a discount.  Then I came back to find you but you weren’t around.  I figured you must have paid for what you wanted and went out to the car, so I went out to look for you!  I was just about to call the police!”  Tracy explained.

“That’s funny, I thought the same about you,” Laura replied.  Just then Laura’s phone chirped.  She picked it up and took a look at it, “That’s Noah.  He’s wondering if we’re going to be out much longer because he’s ordered pizza and wants us to pick it up on the way home.”

“Men.  I tell ya,” Tracy responded.

“Well, I guess we’d better go pay for what we’ve picked and get home,” Laura replied.  “I mean, who wants cold pizza?”

Just then an announcement came over the loudspeaker, “We’d like to congratulate Anne S. for winning the October 2011 New Creation Apparel giveaway at Is This Modest. Hope that you’ll come back next month to try again!”

The ladies headed up to the checkout, and while they were waiting Tracy remarked, “I think I’m going to check out New Creation Apparel.  Is This Modest has a giveaway from them every month, and if I get on their newsletter I’ll get an e-mail when they do their giveaway.  You can never have enough high quality skirts.”

“That is if I don’t win it first!” Laura smiled.  They headed home, with stories to tell and gifts to give.  In all, it was a very productive day.

“Ok, I’ll be right back.”  With that, Tracy left for a changing room.

It seems liked only a few minutes, but when Laura glanced down at her watch, she saw that a half hour had passed and she hadn’t seen Tracy reappear.

Where could she have gone?, Laura wondered to herself.

What happened when Tracy went to the changing rooms?  Something nefarious?  Did she find a great deal?

The plot thickens!

It’s that time again!  Time for another giveaway, and this one is going to be an easy and I hope fun one.

Some of you may know that while I was in high school I wrote a fiction story.  In fact, I’ve published a lot of it over at MInTheGap Fiction, though I’m not sure how good it is…  In any event, I have some characters over there that have shown up in different blogs from time to time, and I figured now is the time that they show up at Is This Modest.

For this month’s giveaway, I want to create a new story based on these characters.  I’ll detail more in a moment, but here’s where it gets (I hope!) fun.  Here are the rules:

• Comment must be 3 to 6 sentences… OR  Be a line someone spoke.
• You may comment as many times as you like, but you must wait for someone else to comment before adding on.
• Do not use the reply feature, because it will mess up the story.  Any replies will not be counted.
• You get one entry per comment that meets the rules.

So, we’re writing a story.  I’ll get it started and tell you about the characters, and from there, where it goes is up to you and how creative you get.  Write a paragraph to move the story along.  Write some dialog for one of the characters.  It’s up to you!  I’ll write a wrap up when it’s done.

And so, without further Ado, Fiction Meets Modest:

”Honey,” Tracy said, “I want to go to the store and pick up a new skirt.”

“That’s fine, but you know what happened the last time,” Adam replied.  Being a detective, he was used to interrogating a suspect, and so it was hard to turn that off.  “You went to the mall with Kristin and neither of you could find a thing that was modest to wear.”

“I know, but Laura showed me this website, IsThisModest.com, and it had a list of all sorts of places that I could find modest skirts, and I think that I could find some of these things locally—if they have them in stock,”  she replied.  Laura stayed at home with the kids and had a very stylish fashion sense, so Tracy knew that she could trust her.

“I thought Laura and Noah were going out tonight?”

“That was the original plan, but circumstances have changed.”

I’m so sorry!  You wouldn’t believe the two weeks that I’ve had.  Right now, there’s exciting news on the part of my family—we’re moving!  And that means that we have a house to pack, while we’re homeschooling and my day job, and to top it all off, our landlord is trying to sell the house.  That means that there are showings to prepare for.

My life should be titled “Adventures with four, soon to be five kids.”

I’ve made a mistake.  I found this great plugin for giving quizzes and I created a quiz, but it wasn’t recording your name or e-mail and it wasn’t keeping the results correctly.  Seems like I got a bad update, and the developers from the plugin have been great and have fixed the problem.

What this means it that, for those that have already been a part of the quiz—I have nothing to identify you, how you did, etc.  I have no way of knowing!

However, the plugin is working great right now, so, since there’s no one in there, we’ll extend the giveaway one week, and announce the winner on the 29th.  So, go back to the August 2011 Giveaway post and fill out the quiz—you get a chance for 10 entries depending on how you do on the 10 questions!

Many of you that are bloggers are familiar with the concept of the Internet Meme—something that’s done on a weekly basis that people participate in and work to build community.

At Is This Modest, we’d like to encourage you that there are people out there that dress modest, as well as look good.

To this end, we’re going to start Modest Mondays.  Basically, the idea is:

1. Take a photo of yourself dressed modestly.
2. Post it to your blog.
3. Let us know in comments.
4. We’ll link to you in the body of our post.
5. Our readers will then go to your site and be an encouragement!

To kick this off and get is started with a bang, we’re going to pair this up with our monthly New Creation Apparel giveaway!

• If you visit a site listed on this post and leave an encouraging comment you get 2 entries for each site you visit.
