The Riley is a dress that can accompany you to any occasion. The short pleated sleeve and triple-ruffle neckline are subtle details to compliment the button-up bodice. The first thing that I see looking at this dress is the ruffles around the neckline—which brings my eyes up to her face and hair.  That’s a good thing.

The sleeves are fine.  The belt defines her waist well.

The funny thing is this pose.  I keep looking at it and wonder if, instead of it being a dress, it’s actually shorts!  But that’s not a problem with the dress, just the way the model is holding her hands.

The skirt length is just above the knee, which isn’t a problem as much as you’ll have to pay attention to how you sit.

This is definitely an elegant dress.  The sleeves are half length?  Is that something new?

In any case, they’re plenty  long, the neckline is nice and high—the only thing to look at is the length—which still covers the knee.  So while my boys might not think it’s modest (since the ankle is not covered per their elementary school history books) it works for us.

“Effortless Beauty”—that’s what Mika Rose wants you to think when you look at this dress, and I can see why.

What immediately attracts my attention, looking at this dress, is the belt with the bow.  It’s placed high, next to the chest, where my eyes are drawn.

Other than that, the dress sits right above the knee, which means that you’ll have to sit like a lady.

The round neckline is ok, but you’ll need to watch that you have no maintenance issues.

The sleeves are fine.

This is a really cute dress.

From the retailer:

The Alexia is the perfect representation of flirty and playful, done tastefully.  The puffed short sleeve and the notched collar are very charming elements of this dress. The collar buttons down on one side for additional flattering detail.  With three gathered tiers, you can choose to make it an empire or natural waist dress, just by adding a fun belt. The Alexia reaches the length you expect, and will surely compliment your sun-filled activities.

And I think that they’re right.  The length is just right for summer, though you’ll have to be aware that just covering the knee can present issues when sitting.  I like where the waistline is, and though it’s almost a faux wrap, the V is small and shouldn’t present the typical maintenance issues.

Now, just to find the right color!

This is the first dress from Mika Rose that I would say you might want to avoid—unless you’re shorter or looking for something to wear around the house for your husband.

The sleeves on this dress are fine.  The neckline is a V and a tad low, and mixed with the gathered waistline is going to draw attention to your chest.

The fact that there are layers of the skirt, where the opaque part is above the knee and the rest of it below means that you’re teasing guys into thinking they can see something that otherwise they shouldn’t.

That being said, the opaque section isn’t too high, but I don’t know of many girls looking to be modest who would wear the dress if it was just as long as the inner layer.

Am I going too far?

They call this a little black dress—but there’s a lot to love here.

The neckline is a V, but not a deep one, so it shouldn’t pose the normal V-neck issues.  The sleeves are short, which is fine.

The length goes down below the knee, which is a good length, but presents modesty issues when sitting and standing—keep the knees together.

I don’t think that the belt accent comes with the dress, but it works well and could also be paired with the scarf.

What do you think of black dresses?  Only for funerals, or are they a popular part of your wardrobe?

The first thing that I noticed about this dress was the buttons—and how they displayed across the chest.  They are definitely accents, and they definitely attract attention.

I like this color blue, and the sleeves are puff, which isn’t a problem for me.

The skirt length is just covering the knee, so you’ll have to pay attention when sitting/standing and getting into and out of the car.

The belt is fun and feminine, and I think it works out well on this model.

What do you think of this dress?  Is it too tight on top, or is it just the attention drawn to the buttons.

Brown and White seem to be a pretty popular color scheme.  It’s easy to see why—it looks nice.

The shoulders of this dress are covered.  The length is decent—looks to fall at the knee or just below on this model.  Join this with the scoop neckline and you have a couple of maintenance issues that you should be aware of.

Of course, if you want, you could pair it with an under layer (perhaps white?) and that would make it modest.

The white band in the middle draws attention to the waistline, so you should pay attention to that.

Some might say that red = passion, however, I think that red can also be modest is some cases.  This dress works well for this model in this color.

Other than the color, the sleeves are fine, the neckline is nice and high, and it covers half the knee.

That means there are some potential issues here as far as sitting and moving around.

So, what do you think about the color…  Is red an immodest color to wear?

This dress is interesting.  The neckline is visually interesting because of the V that it creates with the pseudo layering.  With all V-necks you should be aware of what can be seen at an angle or when bending over.

The sleeves are short, which is fine.

The waistline has detailing, which is interesting, but I’m not sure it’s as flattering on this model as it could me.

The length is mid-calf, and looks cute.

It seems like this is a great modest dress, and very versatile.  Would you agree?

What do you think of this dress from Mika Rose?

The dress falls just below the knee, so there could be maintenance issues, but it’s a modest length.

The shoulders are covered, though it looks like it’s a loose sleeve.

The V-neck could present some exposure, but on this model it’s modest.

The waistline is a bit interesting, and I think that it’s because it’s a faux wrap.  There’s a lot of gathering and attention there, which can draw attention to the bust.

That being said, the color downplays the gathering, so I think that this dress is modest.

Here’s a light and modest dress for summer.  This attractive dress is a 40’s style that is light weight and made to flow.  It’s 100% Polyester (according to the retailer) and looks comfortable.

From a modesty standpoint, the shoulders are covered and the neckline looks like it buttons.  The look on the model is modest.

The belt helps for definition, but doesn’t draw attention to anywhere but the waist.

The interesting part of this dress, to me, is that there seems to be an outer layer that goes below the knee, but the inner layer sets just on the knee.  One wonders if the lower layer is a slip?

I don’t think so, because the top looks fine, and the retailer says that it is not see-through.

Still, it’s an interesting effect, don’t you think?

This dress looks pretty good, from a modesty angle.  The shoulders are covered, the length falls just under the knee, and the neckline is decent—though could be a tad low on some ladies.

From the retailer:

The material is wrinkle free … and machine washable. The pleats on the waist-line lay flat to create a sliming look.

And the pleats would be the biggest thing that I’d question—and that’s not saying much.  The pleats do draw a little bit of attention to the bust.  It almost creates an empire waistline type look.

The accents are fine, the color it decent.

What do you think of this shirt?  I mean, my eyes are first drawn to the necklace—is that a pair of handcuffs?

In any case, I think that the shirt has some things going for it—the sleeves are fine and the length is decent.  It looks as if there are buttons in the space between where she’s buttoned it and the top of the shirt—which isn’t always the case.

The fact that it’s fitted means that it shows off this model’s waistline, but it also gives a lot of attention and definition to her chest area.

So, overall, I think this is a good top, with some caveats to think about.  You?

This beautiful silver colored dress is from Mika Rose.  The dress is titled “Hollywood” and it comes in two colors silver or black. The the dress is made with 100% polyester fabric.   At first glance this Hollywood gown is simple, yet elegant enough for a formal occasion.  When it comes to v-necks on clothing I am very  picky,  but this v-neck dress I can actually see myself wearing. I think the v-neck  adds to the character of the dress in a modest, yet fashionable way.   Not a bad find for under $100.

I think this would have to be my favorite of all the dresses.

Mika Rose’s ‘Elizabeth’ dress is such a great length and I love the neckline. The fabric falls really well, and is slimming! (yay!)

It is dry clean only, which is a downside to may great dresses these days, but I think it would be worth that cost.

For those looking for something a little different to the traditional ‘little black dress’, this one also comes in a lovely chocolate brown.
