I’m Modest Because Modest Clothes Are In Style

It’s true, some modest clothing is in fashion right now—in particular, the maxi skirt.  Most fashion seems to follow the rule that it’s ok for one part of the body to show, and right now the acceptable part is cleavage.  So, there are a lot of maxi skirts to be had from many if not all of the main line stores.

The problem with being modest because modest clothing is in style is that you really have no good argument for when a particular clothing style that’s immodest comes into style.

What this reasoning boils down to is peer pressure.

The culture at large is not always going to have your best interests at heart.  Culture wants to push the boundaries, to see how far they can get a certain way before pushing a different way.

It’s a sign of a weak personality that you do something or wear something simply because “everyone else is doing it”.  That’s why your mom always followed that phrase up with “and if everyone else was jumping off a bridge!”

Of the reasons to be modest, this one will not stand up to pressure.
