Michelle is “post-Christian”.  Yet in her post Fashion, Faith and Finding My Own Style she admits that she finds that she likes dressing modestly:

All the talk of modesty brought me back a bit. Well, not directly back so much as to a place where I could wonder, where was a site like this when I was languishing in my frumptastic must-be-modest phase in college? Granted, plenty of what’s on Cable Car wouldn’t be Jennie Chancey approved (I’m sure churches have risen and fallen over disagreements over the meaning of “modest”), but it might have brought me a fresh perspective.

Cable Car features a lot of great stuff in the styles that I, personally, like and feel comfortable in – as well some great and practical wardrobe advice. I guess some of my aesthetics might be holdover from my Christian days, except most of this isn’t stuff I wore in my Christian days, but a style I’ve grown into gradually over the past several years. And I’ve been nonreligious for those several years.

The interesting thing about a lot of things found in Christianity is that they have secular reasons surrounding them as well.  Whether it’s marriage, fashion, relationships, honesty or integrity, many of the things that Christianity stands for are good for everyone.

To me, this attests to a Creator that knows all things, that designed all things, and is aware what is best for His Creation.

I'm a 35 year old guy married to the most beautiful woman in the world (VirtuousBlonde) for 10 years, and has 5 mostly adorable children-- depending on whether they've had a nap, of course. I'm a software developer by trade, though I like to write on various topics. I got my start in blogging at MInTheGap in 2004 writing about culture, politics and got started talking about modesty on this site just 3 years ago.
