Blazer JacketThis Blazer Jacket is the best deal in the liquidation sale at Shade Clothing in the Sweaters and Jackets category.  It was once $42.50 and at the time of this writing it is $16.99.

To me, and this is just a personal opinion, it doesn’t look to me like this thing fits the model correctly.  It’s probably just the fact that I don’t know as much about fashion as I could.

The 3/4 sleeves give the illusion to me of the sleeves not being long enough.  The fact that it comes down so high on the waist makes it look too short.  The layering is great, but I’m not sure about this piece.

So, tell me that I don’t know fashion or give me your opinion—what do you think?

It’s the sort of thing that would go well with a dress or a high-waisted skirt or a tunic shirt–anything where you can’t see the girl’s actual waist. The silhouette moves the wearer’s waist up, much like an empire style.

On some builds it can be very attractive. A person without much of a waist can gain one through this technique. I see this silhouette a lot in retailers marketing to the middle aged (and the pregnant).

I like it better with long sleeves, as this lady has it:

Agreed- I’m quite pear shaped and couldn’t get away with this with jeans, but could with a skirt or dress that doesn’t show much waist definition.

The fact that it’s shrunken looking makes it more feminine than just wearing a man’s blazer. I think the reason it looks ill-fitting on the model is because she doesn’t have enough up top to fill it out (which I think is a good thing – it’s pretty much impossible for me to find jackets I can button shut!)

Totally agree! :) I will definitely be trying this out, maybe over a bright colored tee.

I’m sure you’re right– getting the right model for different items is important. What I’ve also found is that it’s hard to always picture something that looks good on the model as looking good on you (or your wife, in my case).

I love this style of top. I own several with long sleeves, and some with 3/4 as well. I agree this one just doesn’t seem to fit the model very well. Part of the issue may lie with the single button. If there was a second lower button, a sleeker look might be achieved. Just and idea.

While I can see that it might not work so well for the “pear” it really is flattering to most body types.

Yep! it is the button. I definitely agree Annegirl. It needs more buttons. I can also see bright tees under it as someone already mentioned.

Thanks for your agreement with my diagnosis, Erin. Isn’t it kind of neat that we can go around and get more comments by rating stuff. I think it is. :)
