Common Sense Swimwear

splash When it comes to modesty, one of the most difficult topics is swimwear.  It’s hard to be modest at the beach or in the pool because most of the time people are wearing as little as they think they can get away with—or less.

Annette from Tamanu Sun Swimwear understands the frustration:

The inspiration for the beginning of Tamanu Sun Swimwear is simple: four years ago I got tired of taking my daughters shopping for swimsuits every spring and finding nothing suitable.

Other mothers I knew were also frustrated with the same futile search. With encouragement from family and friends, I set out to design patterns and find suppliers for materials. I wanted designs which reflected conservative values, but which would also be fun and appealing to style-conscious girls and young women.

With that concept in mind, they went out and designed a line, and it’d been pretty successful for them:

We are now going into our fourth season with sales strong and a growing number of new and return customers. We are at a point of hardly being able to keep up with orders in a home-based setting and contemplating where to go with the business from here. It has been incredibly satisfying and gratifying to see the eagerness and enthusiasm for modest choices in a culture and society gone so far astray in the other direction.

They have multiple different styles and prints that are available:

They are definitely someone you should check out as you prepare for this summer!

I'm a 35 year old guy married to the most beautiful woman in the world (VirtuousBlonde) for 10 years, and has 4 mostly adorable children-- depending on whether they've had a nap, of course. I'm a software developer by trade, though I like to write on various topics. I got my start in blogging at MInTheGap in 2004 writing about culture, politics and got started talking about modesty on this site just 2 years ago.

Sadly, I can not find Tamanu online anymore. I purchased a suit for my daughter in February, 2010, and it has been EXCELLENT. We love it! I hope this is just a computer glitch. I’d like to buy more!

Great stuff here, I’m sending this site to my daughters. Thanks

WOW. That sounds like a good site. I just mix and match until I find something modest enough. I don’t go swimming that much either.
