The purpose of modeling clothing is to give the prospective customer the idea of what the item of clothing would look like on a person.  It’s important to show how it would fit on a real body.

In order to be an effective model, there are a few things to keep in mind.

1. Remember Your Purpose

The primary purpose of modeling is making is to make a sale—primarily of clothing.  They’re looking to see how a piece of clothing fits, how well a photographer takes pictures, etc.

To that end, you want to make sure that you make the article look good, or the photographer look good.

Your goal should be to work on not being distracting.  Technically, you’re the star of the shot, but you’re also supposed to bring out the best of what you’re modeling.

2. Remember Your Pose

Pose can be as important as what you are wearing.  Your pose tells a story.  Whether you’re smiling or looking serious, your pose can cause a distraction or compliment what you’re supposed to be trying to do.

Your pose is also important when it comes to modesty.  You can be dressed so that all of your skin is fully covered, and yet you can be immodest in your pose.

Only pose in ways that you find comfortable—this might even include not showing your face on a website.

3. Remember You’re Purity

True beauty starts from within—from a pure spirit and an upright heart.  What you want to show through about you is your character.  You want to show who you really are.

That’s foundational to your presentation, and will go a long way to showing integrity with the product you are showing.  Who you are is important.

4. Remember You’re Pretty

Modeling is about how you look, and the chances are that if someone wants you to model you’re pretty.  But keep in mind the truth about beauty—it does fade.  It’s not something that you will always have, so if you’re completely focused only on the external you will find that you will not be able to keep that long.

Remember you’re pretty, and try to remain on the pretty instead of the sexy side if you’re looking to be modest.  Though “sexy” will tend to draw one kind of attention, it’s a kind of attention that will fade, and is only really concerning one dimension of who you are.

5. Remember Your Papa

You’ll always be your dad’s little girl.  You’ll always be beautiful in his eyes.  So why be modeling something in a way or wearing so little that you would cause him shame or embarrassment.

If you’re asked to do something or wear something that would make you feel uncomfortable, remember your dad and people that love you.  It’s not worth the temporal thrill if you end up saddening your family.

I'm a 35 year old guy married to the most beautiful woman in the world (VirtuousBlonde) for 10 years, and has 5 mostly adorable children-- depending on whether they've had a nap, of course. I'm a software developer by trade, though I like to write on various topics. I got my start in blogging at MInTheGap in 2004 writing about culture, politics and got started talking about modesty on this site just 3 years ago.

This was an excellent article! These are great points to remember when we put ourselves on display. The outfit by the way is immodest.
