Scarf Style #1: Just Hangin’

JustHangin'Okay! Here I am with the first basic way you can wear your scarf. Now, you may be wondering why I even chose to do a post on this one, because it really goes without mentioning. You pick up the scarf and hang it around your neck. Nothing fancy—no knots, no nothin.’ It just hangs straight. How will this make any outfit more modest?

Well, first of all, sometimes you just need MORE. Maybe you’re wearing thin shoulder straps and even though the neckline isn’t too terribly low, your shoulders feel bare. A fuzzy scarf can really help with that. (As Spring gets closer to Summer, the fuzz may not be such a good idea. But depending on where you live, early Spring can be pretty nippy! Just work with your situation.)

Also, maybe your straps are TOO thin—spaghetti straps, perhaps—and you want to make them wider. Take that scarf and wrap it around your straps. You can put the middle of the scarf right where the back of your top is, and let it sort of hang there in a ‘U.’ That can give you a little more coverage in the back too. Then just work your way over, twisting the scarf in spirals around the straps. Let any extra hang in the front, or maybe you have a pretty pin you can use where the strap meets the top if there isn’t much extra hang. (Read: Experiment with the ends, because I don’t have an amazing idea for those. =D) I’ve seen this done with spaghetti-strap formals and a matching scarf-like panel of some thin, floaty fabric—it looked gorgeous.

Try it out! I’d love to hear about your trials—successes OR failures. God bless!

I do that look all the time…love it. Keeps my neck warm and helps cover a tad extra depending on what I’m wearing.
