Twenty-ten greetings, everyone!

In 08 and 09, the writers at Is This Modest did a great job of showing us the weaknesses in today’s popular clothing styles. This year, they’ve redesigned the look and layout of the site AND come up with a new theme. See—once a problem is recognized, if nobody does anything about it, has any good been done? So now we’re going to spend a year discussing ways to patch up the identified holes in our wardrobe.

When we’re new to the idea of Christian modesty, turning around to analyze the contents of our closets can be daunting—and even if we’ve been working at it a while, sometimes the adequate coverage just isn’t to be found for reasonable prices at the normal places we shop.

How can we meet God’s standards without spending all of our time and money on something that even He tells us isn’t the most important thing? Over the course of this new series, I’m going to show you a few of the many different ways to creatively cover up excess skin where your neckline doesn’t cut it. How do I mean?

Ladies, you can make them, borrow, them, or buy them. They can be feminine, pretty, and inexpensive at the same time. They’re often put away when Winter chills give way to Spring, but done right, any season will flatter these extraordinarily versatile friends. Dear sisters, I give you…

Scarves!

Through the series, I’m going to show you eight different BASIC ways to wear your Spring Scarves. Something I’ve learned, though, is that for every style, there are many, many variations that you can do.

The key is remembering to think out of the box.

Make it tighter, looser, drapier—turn it around—whatever suits your needs and preferences! My goal is to get your creative juices flowing with these eight examples, so that when you hurriedly throw on a top or dress in the morning, look in the mirror, and groan because you know it shows more than is good for you, you can temporarily fix the problem and make it look better than it did before with a quick second and a girly scarf.

That’s a great idea! It’s amazing how things like that can help out. I made an outfit for our church’s Christmas play this year, and in trying to make so that it wasn’t a “sack-dress” I accidentally made it too tight! oops! My remedy–a big head veil! I took a left-over scrap of fabric from a skirt I had recently mad and draped it so that it draped across the front of me. Very elegant and a nice quick fix! So I agree-think out of the box! =)

I LOVE SCARVES! I only have two unfortunately. I really need to learn to crochet so I can make some. My sis is always coming up with something new.

These are great tips for wearing scarves. I haven’t worn them to much, but they are a good idea. I think I’ll look for some cute ones. :) They do need to match your outfit somewhat don’t they?
