It’s that time again!  Today’s contest runs until next Thursday, with the winner to be announced July 31, 2009.

This time, we’re having a fairly straightforward contest.  To enter, go to the New Creation Apparel site and find a skirt you’d like to win, then come back and leave a comment.

In the comment, leave both which skirt you’d like to win, and an experience you’ve had where you’ve received more respect (either from friends, in public, etc.) because you’ve been wearing modest clothing.

It’ll be one entry per qualifying comment, so everyone will have an equal chance!

I look forward to seeing how modesty has impacted your life for the better!

I'm a 35 year old guy married to the most beautiful woman in the world (VirtuousBlonde) for 10 years, and has 5 mostly adorable children-- depending on whether they've had a nap, of course. I'm a software developer by trade, though I like to write on various topics. I got my start in blogging at MInTheGap in 2004 writing about culture, politics and got started talking about modesty on this site just 3 years ago.

Cool! I like the LiBelle Salmon skirt best.

My moment was at school. I didn’t always wear skirts very much, then one day I put on a skirt and a very femininely modest shirt. This one guy who’s normally a jerk and would never act like a gentleman towards any girl pleasantly surprised me that day when he offered me his chair (no others were available) and later opened the door for me. 0_0 I give credit for that to the extra modest/feminine look. :)

  2. I really like their european style denim skirt or the denim 104 skirt.

I’ve always been a fairly modest dresser but have really only been concerned with wearing clothes that are both feminine and modest for the past year or so. Just a few months into trying to wear skirts more often, I had an experience that I found quite encouraging. I went to Home Depot one saturday, wearing jeans, a t-shirt and flip flops. Nothing blatantly immodest, but not very ladylike or put together. I couldn’t find anyone to help me, spent quite a bit of time wandering around and left frustrated. Later on that week, I had to go back and was dreading it but this time I was greeted at the door with a “Hello Ma’am” and asked two or three times while browsing if I needed help. Once I found what I needed, they carried it to the front for me and checked me out, even volunteering to take it to my car (and it was only a couple of tiles, not a load of lumber!) The only difference I could think of was that I this time I was wearing a skirt. Perhaps I just stumbled upon an exceptional shift of workers, but I really do think that you get treated better when dressed in a feminine and modest fashion.

I like the “European Style Denim” skirt. I wear a size eight. *grins*

I wear skirts about pretty much 100% of the time when I go to church. Not all the girls whom are around my age wear skirts to church, but on one particular day, many of us girls where wearing modest feminine skirts. An older lady whom I know said to me, that she loved it when us girls wore skirts to church and dressed modestly. I could tell it made her day so much that we cared to do so! (And it made our day that someone accually cared what we wore!)

I really like the Bubble Skirt Green with Gold Dots! It’s so cute and pretty!

I was about 12, I believe, when I started wearing a veil to Church. One day a man came up to my father when my family and I were getting into our vehicle and said how “good of job” he is doing with his family. He even shook my father’s hand! Several times after that we received similiar comments. Sometimes wearing a veil to Church is a bit awkward because “no one else is wearing one”, but after that experience I totally changed my mind!

I like the Timeless Pansy skirt! Cute print.

I had the door opened for me twice by men when I was out in town the other day. ;D Its refreshing to be treated like a lady, and I think dressing modestly and in a feminine way helps encourage that kind of behavior!

My favorite is the pink Princess skirt in size 16.

When in public, I always wear a headcovering, long-sleeved shirts, and long skirts. This is very uncommon where I live, especially during weeks of triple-digit heat in the summers. Once I boarded a crowded train in which a group of young men were loudly making crude comments about two immodestly dressed young women that were trying to get the guys’ attention. A moment after I stepped on the train, one of the guys turned, noticed me and said to the others, “Shut up! A lady just got on the train!”

  7. Hannah L. says:

My pick would be the European Style Summer Weight Denim Skirt

We were strolling down the aisles at Sam’s Club one day, when an elderly couple walked past our basket. The wife was wearing a long skirt, no jewelry, and long hair, which around here generally marks people as pentecostal. The man turned around after passing our basket and told me he appreciated my modesty with so many girls around who lacked it. It was such a blessing.

  8. Julia says:

I really like the Prague Maya Blue.

Lately I’ve noticed I get more respect by men, they will actually hold the door open for me and wait for me to pass. It comes and goes, but when I’m dressed nice, I notice a big difference.

  9. anne says:

I really like the “Happy Circles” skirt!!!

I wear skirts/dresses all the time but just the other day when I was walking toward a gas station a man was about to go in the door, but when he saw me he waited and held the door for me! :)

  10. Eyebright says:

I love the “Can’t believe the pockets! Creamy white” skirt!

I’m not sure I have ever had an different experience with people because of wearing skirts. I would love to be a good example to someone through modesty, though!

Have a very bright, very cheerful day!

  12. Carmen says:

The European Flair Lime Green skirt is absolutely adorable!

I wear skirts all the time and have noticed that I generally get treated like a lady! Since I have been working as a nanny, the 4yr. old girl wants to wear skirts/dresses almost all of the time! She thinks she looks “pretty” when she wears them!

  13. Colleen says:

I like their ‘Sporty Comfort Khaki’ skirt, though are all so pretty!

I always wear skirt, so I don’t notice if I’m being treated any differently. A guy at a register called me ‘ma’am’ once, which my mom didn’t like (she said it made her feel old) and he said it was just out of respect. Although that was probably just because he was a very polite guy, not because of how I was dressed.
