Is This Modest?

Hannah: Where to start….first of all I don’t think strapless is an attractive style and though there can be more modest versions of it, this is not one of them. Too much is showing in the way it curves down at the top and has lots of beadwork running across. It all combines to attract attention and reveal too much. I also believe that her body posture and facial expression are seductive and immodest.

Foy: I have to agree with you on all fronts. Especially the front, where it is a bit too low. I’d be interested to see how the back is, but from the curves of the dress, it appears to be quite low as well.

I think it is beautiful…but modest? Again, that is in the eye of the beholder surely.

it is ok not looking very beautifull and top is too open from the front…. like its not looking good to me ….its very modest :)

  3. This is a beautiful wedding dress and the updo hairstyle compliments it.

I have just stumbed across this site while looking for something completely different, so it may be that other parts of it are less scary and more helpful. Hannah, seriously, you need to find a little more of the freedom in Christ that we have been given. I grew up being told exactly the same kind of stuff that you’re telling everyone here about clothes – strapless is too revealing, garments that follow the natural line of a woman are too sexy, men are visual creatures so if a girl dresses attractively she is causing her brothers in Christ to stumble… etc. I am now in my later 20′s, married, I have a lot of male friends, have seen a lot more of the world, & am still a follower of Christ. I’m not saying that a girl should wear whatever she wants without thought to modesty… but to say that this dress above is immodest is living in an age that is long gone. I’m also not saying that if it’s old-fashioned it’s out-dated, so don’t worry. What I’m saying is, that in the early 1800′s, a girl’s ankle was a body part she could use to be seductive, decades ago when necklines were high then dropping the neckline (or wearing strapless) may have been a big deal. Guys are not helpless – give them a little more credit – and guys are not as sheltered as you seem to think. Guys who are not constantly made to focus on what they ‘shouldn’t be looking at’ by the kind of holier-than-thou attitudes expressed here, would be unlikely to think anything much at all of the above dress except that the girl looked generally attractive. Are you aware that many Christian guys are more likely to be ‘turned on’ by our soft and loose-fitting winter clothes than they are by a tight-fitting bodice like the gown above? What can you do about that? It is WOMEN in the church that you satisfy by this kind of extreme rule-making on the subject of modesty. Yes, there is a level of modesty that is required. But I’ve read your comments on Audrey’s (I think that was her name)wedding gown where (and also above) you talk about the amount and style of the beading at her neckline – I have NO idea what beading is meant to do to a guy’s blood temperature. In my experience, it’s the women who are interested in what kind of detail a wedding dress has on it. I believe in reasonable modesty – but I think legalism is more dangerous to our Christian brethren than cleavage.

Thanks, Mez. I didn’t know how to put my opinion in words but you did it beautifully. I totally agree. I think that God gave us these jewels for a reason. To make use of them. So I do not see how beading (or other decorative details) on a wedding dress is wrong.

  5. My wedding was approaching, so I would like to buy my wedding dress so that I was a beautiful bride. One day, I saw some dresses from the internet that are so charming. And then I asked the saler some questions and quickly chose a so beautiful wedding dress. They would give me custom dress, and made me wait for half mouth. Of course, I desired to receive my wedding dress asap. Finaly, my wedding dress was expressed, wow, it was so fit for me ,my friend said good to me. 6. Asymmetrical necklines are hot trend in wedding dresses which is a sort of welcome change after strapless wedding dresses dominance for long with even one of major bridal fashion icons i.e. Vera Wang getting tired of designing same. Thus the key to best wedding dresses for 2010 lies in asymmetrical neckline which facilitates a bride to showcase her up to snuff limbs. Hence if you are the fortunate one then why not exchange wedding vows in 2010 wedding dresses style.

We liked in this section Anne Bowen wedding dresses that simply personifies chic in the fashionable manner.
