Feminine Modesty

Modesty is not just about making sure we have our body covered correctly. It’s about making sure that we look like a lady (for those of us who are ladies, obviously). That doesn’t mean Victorian dresses with ruffles and bustles (oh please no!). It does mean dressing in a way that makes sure we will not be mistaken for a man. I’ve heard the quote “Your clothes should be tight enough to show you’re a woman and loose enough to show you are a lady”. You want those you come in contact with to realize you are a lady; not a chimney sweep, a man or a prostitute. You want men to look at you and admire you; not look at parts of you because you are dressed in a sexy and revealing way.

Feminine modesty does not mean you always have to wear pink and be in a dress. But you should look for clothes that flatter your coloring and shape, but still keep you covered enough that you have some mysteriousness.

A wife to my handsome man and mama to my little man. I spend my days fixing meals and cuddling. I live in the cold, cold north, where there are four seasons: almost snow, lots of snow, more snow, and the two days of summer. I love the subject of modesty, but am dissapointed that there seems to be so little of it in today's clothing. Maybe this will be my very small way of helping to bring it back.

I wholeheartedly agree!!! Wish there were more women who dressed like a lady instead of dressing and acting like men…

Exactly- they don’t talk about “feminine mystique” for nothing.

I think that a bit of mystery can be quite appealing.

I love that quote! It’s helpful for maintaining the right balance! :) You want to look attractive and beautiful and modest all at the same time.
