I see what you mean. I draw the line for both at just above the knee. Not inches above it, but where the hem comes to the top of the knee, basically. I'll be honest though- I do allow flexibility within that. I do wear swimsuits which obviously show the thigh and I wear shorter shorts when hiking or doing other 'active' activities mostly to avoid overheating and allow for greater movement. Depends on how tight the short shorts are, I guess. For me, seeing that there’s no line makes it more seductive– or like my brain “How in the world can she bend over to pick something up?” I don’t have that problem with shorts.

Where would you draw the line with skirt length and short length– same place? Different? How far above the knee?

I actually think short shorts are LESS modest than short skirts because you see so much bare leg and what isn't showing is still defined. A much smaller area to 'fill in the blanks' with. A mid-thigh dress in my opinion is more modest than mid-thigh shorts. Not that I consider a mid-thigh dress modest, lol. Kristins last blog post..Out With the Man-Clothes CHALLENGE!

I’ve wondered about that– especially when it comes to skorts– and my guess is that because there’s a definition when it comes to the leg, and the “opportunity” to view a ladies’ undies is reduced.

Why are the standards for shorts any different than those for skirts? I only wear knee length skirts, so why wouldn't I stick to bermuda shorts?? Kristins last blog post..Out with the Man-Clothes...Seriously.

Assuming we’re talking about loose shorts (which, I guess have been proven to actually be a skirt), I would not say they’re not that modest. Just like a skirt, if you’re not careful how you move or sit, someone could see right up the wide leg hole. But because they’re shorts, a girl would probably be more likely to wear them shorter than she would a skirt.

Well, a skirt would be a whole different ball game. I’ve only ever seen a draw string on shorts, not on a skirt, hence why I started that discussion.

If it’s a skirt, it’s definitely too short.

That, the beaded drawstring, and the gathering seams. Even if you did see that material on a pair of shorts, you wouldn’t see those. Also:
