Is This Modest?

MInTheGap: I think that the white shirt and pink skirt goes well, and is completely modest. Oh! I thought I was supposed to review the girl in the background!

The wide straps and the high neckline make this dress modest for me. It’s not a bad color for her either.

Kristin: I’m sure some will disagree, but I personally don’t have a problem with the bare arms here, and the straps are wide enough to hide her undergarments. The square neckline is very feminine. The white line below her bust is distracting though- white draws the eye more than any other color! I’m going with Mostly Modest here assuming the dress is long enough.

I'm a 35 year old guy married to the most beautiful woman in the world (VirtuousBlonde) for 10 years, and has 5 mostly adorable children-- depending on whether they've had a nap, of course. I'm a software developer by trade, though I like to write on various topics. I got my start in blogging at MInTheGap in 2004 writing about culture, politics and got started talking about modesty on this site just 3 years ago.

I like that is appears to be feminine. It doesn’t pop out at me as immodest necessarily, however I wouldn’t wear it. The reason why I wouldn’t wear it is because I would prefer a more modest bridesmaid’s dress. I suppose if I were asked ot be in a wedding I would discuss the modesty of the dresses before I would accept the invitation to stand in the wedding.

I was at a wedding once where the bride chose dresses that could not contain the bridemaids figure and her top portion didn’t stay in. It was humiliating for her and everyone who saw it happen. :O(

Brides need to have someone inform them of how to get dresses that help their bridesmaids to look like they are in a wedding of honor.

One way to get around the problem of fit is to ask the girls to wear a dress that is the color you want, but they can pick the style, cut, etc. That’s what my older brothers’ wives did.

I must say that I don’t think the while line is that distracting. Honestly I didn’t even notice it until I saw what Kristin wrote :P.
