Lila is a single woman that works in a help center for a company called “metromart”.  She is completely self-absorbed, has a shoe blog, and tries to get by with as little work as possible.  She hangs out with her two friends, and is trying to attract a guy.

In the following panel, she’s met a guy and is about to go out on a date…

The Meaning of Lila - Jan 16, 2009

The point of this comic?  Clothing sends a message.  What you wear says something to those that see you.  In the case of Lila, her friend is saying (in a sarcastic fashion) that her clothing says that she’s desperate.

What does what you are wearing say about you?

I'm a 35 year old guy married to the most beautiful woman in the world (VirtuousBlonde) for 10 years, and has 5 mostly adorable children-- depending on whether they've had a nap, of course. I'm a software developer by trade, though I like to write on various topics. I got my start in blogging at MInTheGap in 2004 writing about culture, politics and got started talking about modesty on this site just 3 years ago.

  1. Anna Grace says:

Well, my t-shirt says, “I got out of bed for this?” No, literally. It’s printed right on the front… :)

  2. Lady Abigail says:

Dressing modestly would say the opposite: That we’re secure and not desperate. Immodestly dressed women are often dressed that way because they are indeed desperate. They’re desperate for the love that perhaps they didn’t get from their father.
