Is This Modest?
MInTheGap – It’s pretty tight, but it does cover. I’m going borderline.
Erin – The jeans might be a little snug above the knee, but other than that I think it’s nice! (A little too much black though…)

So, is black immodest now? I don’t recall seeing you mention that before.

@Jennifer S: I don’t, necessarily, believe that black is immodest. I think that if you have too much black you can almost get into a Gothic look, and that can draw attention.
To me, there’s three rules of thumb for modesty:
1. Does it show too much skin?
2. Is it too tight (reveals the figure).
3. Does it draw undue attention.
I would think that Erin is reacting to a potential problem with #3, but I’ll let her comment further.
@Jennifer S: I don’t think black is immodest at all. With this lady’s coloring, I think black is probably one of her best colors and she looks sophisticated. My comment was just based on the idea that it was all really dark and I thought a little color would have been pretty. :-)
great pieces, but the pants draw the eye to the derriere-
Good rule of thumb- if you can’t pull the fabric away from your hip/thigh- it’s too tight.
She could have had an equally attractive outfit if she opted for a pair of wide-leg grey trousers.

Thanks for the answers. I was thrown off by the black comment, but now I see what you are going for. I think I am modest in my own dress, but confess, that sometimes my baggy, “mom” outfit, solves the problem of showing too much skin or figure, but not the pulled together part of modesty that deflects unwanted attention. (That last sentence makes sense in my head… I hope you know what I mean.)
