Yes, they have all kinds of nifty little gadgets that serve the purpose, these days. I know things can slip out accidentally and I always tell my friends if they are having a wardrobe malfunction. I encourage my girlfriends to always tell me if there's something like that going on and I don't know it.

There are also little things you can make/buy? that will help hold the straps in place. It's a little ribbon that attaches to the inside of your shirt with a safety pin on one end and the other end goes under the strap and snaps onto the first end. Voila! No more troubles! :)

And yet it's interesting Ann, I have yet to read someone attempting to enforce their morality on anyone here, let alone trying to inflict pain on someone.

Another use for a safety pin: poking a [jerk] in the eye when he tries to enforce his morality on your sartorial decisions.

@Anna Grace: You're right, I assume.

@KatieG: I don't know if you know me. I was a counselor back in 1996-1997, and I haven't been back in a while.

Okay, do we know you? My DH and I are Csehy alums who met there (although we were never students at the same time- long, involved story.) I'm cautious about mentioning our names, but we were there and my DH led prayer before the concert on July 5 this year.

While researching this part, I was amazed at how many different options for this are available. At yet my only experience had been of the accidental variety.

I mean, spaghetti straps were against the rules both at this camp and college.

The power of the shoulder, ladies, don't forget it!

The ladies before me said it all.

The girls in my youth group have developed showing their bra straps into an art form.

Sarah, are you talking about the sidebar on the eHow site? I was thinking exactly the same thing, though I chose not to comment about it. I suppose the thought process is, it's a website for girls, so it's not an issue. But it still probably is.

Underwear ads always bug me - who in the world would actually model for them?

Great website & thought provoking! Howwever, doesn't it kinda defeat your purpose to have Macy's models wearing only their undies for your sidebar ad?

So many stores sell clear straps, too. I've used them on many occasions when I had to wear a formal. (I swear, dress designers must all be male - the bodices never work well with the female figure! Any bodice that covers enough also prevents me from raising my arms.) I also agree with a lot of the answers on that Yahoo! link you provided - if your bra is giving you trouble, you're wearing the wrong size. It's so worth it to spend a little extra money and go to a high-end boutique to get one that does its job. (I believe the whole point of a bra is modesty. If it's drawing attention to your body instead of away from it, it's not doing what it was made to do.)
