Can’t Touch This

Here’s something you may or may not have thought about. What does the material of the outfit that you are wearing say to others?

Men’s Health says that if you wear a Snug, Soft Sweater that you are inviting a male companion to make physical contact:

“I’m fully aware that when I wear my luxe, short-sleeved gray cashmere turtleneck, my boyfriend can’t keep his hands off me. It’s too easy, really”.

There’s some disagreement here about why women wear these fabrics—do they like the way that it feels, or think that “he” will like the way it feels. In any case, it is sending a message.

This raises another important issue about modesty, in my book. Modesty is about the mind. It’s about your mindset in when you put the article of clothing on, and it’s the mindset of the man that sees you.

What does your clothing make him think about?

This is a valid question that any modest girl or woman should be thinking about—since those of looser morals are already thinking about it.

Is This Modest?

Why are you wearing this kind of sweater? Are you seeking touch or attention or do you like the feel?

How do you pair a sweater like this? Do you pair it with tight pants? Does the sweater show off your body? Do you wear it as a layer?

This article of clothing could go either way to me. I believe this picture is modest. However, I can easily find photos of the same item that are used immodestly.

It comes back to the question of “Why are you wearing it?” and “What is the fit?”
